Members must agree to the MCRRC Code of Conduct
The goal of the MCRRC Code of Conduct is to establish a baseline expectation of behavior for all participants related to MCRRC activities – participants shall include Club Members, volunteers, non-members, and spectators. The Code is designed to ensure that:
The Club’s atmosphere reflects the supportive, inclusive, and respectful nature of our sport; and
The Club supports an environment that is non-hostile and welcoming.
The MCRRC Code of Conduct is as follows:
Show respect to your fellow participants at all times;
Show respect and appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to help the Club and/or its activities;
Do not yell, taunt, or threaten physical violence upon another participant;
Refrain from using abusive or vulgar language;
Do not make racial, ethnic, or gender-related slurs or derogatory comments at Club activities, or on the Club’s messaging or social media sites;
Do not make unwanted sexual or physical contact with other participants;
Never act on behalf of MCRRC or another participant without authorization;
Show respect and appreciation for the facilities we use and the environment in which we run; and
Promptly report violations of the MCRRC Code of Conduct policy to the Board, preferably in writing, by e-mail to president@mcrrc.org.
A participant who believes another participant has violated MCRRC’s Code of Conduct should contact the Board of Directors, preferably in writing. by e-mail to president@mcrrc.org. The Board will take action to review the complaint in a timely manner. If a complaint is valid, and depending on the severity of the violation, the Board may, among other things, consult with an attorney and/or local law enforcement to determine a course of action.
If the Code violation seems like a minor issue, such as a complaint of foul language, then the Board may discuss the violation with the offending participant and issue a verbal or written warning. If the issue is deemed major, or a minor issue persists, the Board will take the action it deems necessary. This may include: temporary or permanent loss of membership and/or barring the offending participant from participating in future Club activities.
MCRRC is a large community of runners. As with any large group of people, some individuals may just not get along. It is our hope that by being mindful of the behaviors outlined in the MCRRC Code of Conduct, we will preserve a supportive, respectful environment where we can all enjoy the sport we love.
